Appi Ski Trip Announcement! 🏂 ⛷️

Hello everyone!

The time has finally come to announce our most anticipated event of the year – the Appi Ski trip!

We will make our annual trip to Appi Kogen and the Pension Mutti lodge on Saturday, February 25.

Anyone can come ski with us during the day at Appi, but the overnight stay at Pension Mutti lodge is limited to 15 people.

This is an informational post only; if you would like to join us at the lodge, be on the lookout for our sign-up sheet, which will be sent out by email on Friday, February 3rd at 7pm.

Read on for the trip details and a cost breakdown.

Getting There:
❄️ The resort and lodge are about a 2.5 hours drive from Akita city. Free parking is available at the resort and the lodge. If you are taking public transit, you can take the shinkansen to Morioka and then take a bus straight to the ski lodge. Timetables for the bus and shinkansen will be provided closer to the trip date.

Date and Time:
❄️ Those staying at the lodge will meet there at 8:00am on Saturday in order to purchase the discounted lift tickets. Anyone not staying overnight can meet us any time during the day at the resort. After skiing, we will check into the lodge. Note that you will not be able to check in to the lodge or drop off any belongings until after the lifts close on Saturday.

Meals:
❄️ Dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning will be included in the cost of your stay at the lodge. Lunch on Saturday is not provided.

Cost:
❄️ The price to stay overnight at the lodge is ¥9000 per person. This price includes room, onsen, and a full-course breakfast and dinner. It does not include lift passes or rentals.
❄️ For those staying at the lodge, the discounted lift ticket price for Saturday will be ¥3500. Otherwise, the regular lift ticket cost is ¥5500.
❄️ If you would like to rent ski equipment and/or clothing, this can be done through the resort.

Additional Details:
❄️ Masking will be strictly enforced at the lodge.
❄️ Due to COVID-safety measures set by Pension Mutti lodge, we are unable to offer more than 15 spots on the overnight portion of this event, which will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. We anticipate a high demand for these spots, so if you would like to participate in the overnight stay, please keep an eye out for the sign-up sheet, coming February 3rd at 7pm.
❄️ The deadline for payment for the overnight portion of the trip is February 10th. Once you are confirmed, a Charity Akita member will be in touch regarding a payment method. Lift tickets and ski equipment rentals (if applicable) will be paid directly to Appi Kogen resort on the day of the event.
❄️ The cancellation deadline for those signed up for the overnight stay at the lodge is February 17th. Cancellations after this date will be liable for the full price of the trip in order to ensure that we can fill all of the limited spots. We thank you for your understanding.
❄️ Those who are only planning on skiing at Appi during the day should still fill out our sign-up form, without selecting the overnight option. This way we will be able to reach out regarding travel plans, meeting times, etc. There is no limit on the number of people who can join us during the day at Appi, and no deadline to sign up for this portion of the event.
❄️ In case of cancellations, we will also be opening up a waitlist for the overnight stay. An email with the link to waitlist sign-ups will be sent out once the 15 slots are filled.

We hope you can make it to one of our most popular events! Please direct any questions, comments, or concerns to charityakita@gmail.com.

See you on the slopes! 🏂
