Executive Director: June Kim

Hello! I’m June, I’m a second year ALT in northern Akita, hailing from Chicago, IL USA! In my previous life, I was in management and coaching, now I’m here in Japan! I like traveling especially road trips so I might randomly pop up in different places around Akita! I also like finding new places to explore and new things to eat (and always taking recommendations!). Aside from that, video games, anime, sports, and random shenanigans are among my interests. I hope to meet as many of you as I can at future CA events!

Deputy Director: Anthony Madry

Hey guys I’m Anthony! I’m pretty much your average Akita dwelling, English teaching, Japanese studying, God fearing, pizza eating, Pokémon battling guy from metro-Detroit. I’m a third year ALT living in Katagami, easily the best placement in Akita! I look forward to getting to know many of you and serving this community together!

Treasurer: Amy Lin

Hello everyone! I’m Amy, and I’m currently a second year ALT from Sydney, Australia who is based in Akita City. Things I like doing outside of work include making cards, playing Pokemon Go, bushwalking, going to museums, and travelling by train. I also really enjoy doing volunteer work, which is why I wanted to join Charity Akita. I know we are in uncertain times, but I look forward to meeting you all at the Charity Akita events! Hopefully we can still do great things together this year!

Secretary & Social Media Coordinator: Erica White

Hello! I have lived in Akita since 2019 and enjoy connecting with people, so I decided to join Charity Akita. I’m from Indiana in the U.S. and am very fortunate to have been placed in another location in Japan that has a rich history of agriculture. Making connections with people throughout Akita has been my greatest joys while living here, and through that I’ve noticed people aren’t so different from each other. I hope to use this time to become a stronger teacher of English, and to help anyone interested in English and international communities join in the conversation!

Location Liaison: Amanda Lockwood

Hello, everyone! My name’s Amanda Lockwood, and this will be my third year in Akita as a JHS/ES ALT! I’m from Washington State in the US, and I currently live in Yokote City. Joining Charity Akita is an opportunity for me to share my ideas and return the warmth and support that the general Akita community has shown me over these past couple of years. I hope to use this chance to not only be a part of the fun annual ALT parties and events, but to also enact real change, no matter how small, through volunteering and charity work. I don’t know where this upcoming year will take us, but I look forward to finding out with all of you!
